Journal History

The Journal of Indigenous Culture, Tourism and Language (JICTL) was first published in 2025 as an international, peer-reviewed scholarly journal with a dedicated focus on the study of indigenous culture, tourism, and language. The journal was established in response to the growing academic and societal need for a credible platform that documents, analyzes, and promotes indigenous knowledge, cultural heritage, linguistic diversity, and sustainable tourism practices in a rapidly changing global context.

Since its inception, JICTL has sought to provide an inclusive academic forum for researchers, academicians, and practitioners to disseminate high-quality scholarly works grounded in interdisciplinary and comparative perspectives. The journal encourages research that explores indigenous knowledge systems, cultural preservation, language use and revitalization, tourism development, and broader socio-cultural dynamics, with particular attention to ethical engagement and community-based approaches.

JICTL adopts a biannual publication schedule, releasing two regular issues each year in March and September, and is published exclusively in an online format to ensure wide accessibility and international dissemination. English is used as the language of publication to support global scholarly communication while facilitating cross-cultural academic exchange.

All manuscripts submitted to JICTL undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process, involving independent reviewers with relevant expertise in indigenous studies, tourism, and language research. This process reflects the journal’s commitment to academic quality, originality, methodological rigor, and ethical integrity. Only original manuscripts that have not been previously published and are not under consideration elsewhere are accepted for publication.

Published by Goodwood Publishing, JICTL continues to strengthen its editorial governance and publication standards in line with internationally recognized best practices. Through its focus on indigenous perspectives and sustainable development, the journal aspires to contribute meaningfully to scholarly discourse, policy development, and culturally respectful practices at local, national, and global levels.
